ASB cards at Placer high school last year were twenty-five dollars, this year they’re fifty (ASB stands for Associated Student Body),  These cards get students into all the games and dances for free or at a reduced price. Is this enough to keep parents and students supporting the ASB program? Or will this limit the amount of students that can participate?

“I think that if the dances are good, and so far the football games have been pretty fun, its pretty much worth it”. said Carley Mickel When asked how she felt about the price of the ASB card. She further stated that between her and her friends price did not seem to be an issue.  Mickel is a freshman so this is her first experience with ASB cards.

“well to be honest I don’t have an asb card, never really wanted one but I think 50 dollars is very pricey for that piece of plastic”  you get a really good discount and stuff and for the dances you can get a guest pass to invite anyone from any other school to come and that’s actually pretty cool.” she continued “so I mean they’re totally beneficial, just not enough to cost $50” Ryvre Nelson, a senior stated,  you can see they’re are differing opinions on the subject.

Ms.Heather Brophy the Administrative Assistant to the principle stated that “The increase in price covers admission to all home games for all sports, The money is shared between ASB sports to support all students”, she also quoted that “Yes students will continue to buy the ASB cards because it increases student participation and school spirit”

After talking to a variety of people, it appears it would be well worth students to save up their pennies to meet this price increase on the ASB cards. It seems these cards encourage participation in a wide variety of school functions. With an outcome of boosting of school spirit and maximizing your high school experience.
