Well known ‘Arco Arena’ no longer sponsered by “Arco’

Arco Arena, an arena that hosts concerts, rodeos, and the infamous Sacramento Kings. Such a place is no longer going to be named “Arco Arena”. Instead, it’s going to be called something else. The Maloofs, owner of Arco Arena, signed a year contract with Power Balance.

This contract specifies the arena is going to be renamed, so the arena is no longer going to be called Arco Arena. Instead, Power Balance stated that the new name of the arena will be referred to as “Power Balance Pavilion.”

As we know, the name “Arco Arena” was named like it is because the Maloofs had an earlier contract with the BP owned company, Arco. Now with the contract expiring for the name “Arco Arena”, the Maloofs refuse to renew the contract. Although the arena is being renamed, the new name won’t have any effect on people’s decisions on whether to go to the arena or not. The name of “Arco Arena” has caught the eyes and hearts of so many people that people don’t agree on the new name. People would rather have the arena be named something else.

“Yes, I will still go. I think it helps athletic minded people because it helps give them a physiological advantage,” said Freshman girls basketball coach, Malcom Means.

“I think it’s a terrible name,” stated Junior, Christopher Mendes

The arenas new name “Power Balance Pavilion” is being named after the company Power Balance, as the name states.  Some people question the ability of their products. Power Balance is technology designed to work with your body. It’s based on optimizing the body’s natural energy flow. The hologram in Power Balance is designed to respond to the natural energy field of the body. Most people don’t believe that this actually works.

“No, they dont work,” I think it is Physiological.” Stated Chris

With Arco Arena’s platform being mainly basketball, some people hope that the Sacranmento Kings will still play at Arco. With the name changing, some people hope it would bring the “balance of power” back within the Kings.”

“No, probably not. I like the Kings so I hope it does,” said Junior, David Daniel.

Arco had its name on the Kings’ first home in Sacramento. The 10,000 seated Arco Arena was home to the Kings from 1985 to 1988. The renaming of the stadium becomes effective as of March 1, 2011.
