New ASB officers bring fresh ideas to Placer

This year’s ASB officers, including President Emily Rodgers and vice president Jalen Lewis, are excited to start this school year.
The Associated Student Body is lead by President Emily Rodgers, vice president Jalen Lewis, Treasurer Amanda Mathews, and Secretary Ruth Braica. These officers manage and lead the leadership class, which is comprised of representatives and officers from each class.
The leadership club plans and provides organization for the extracurricular activities throughout the school year. They plan all of the dances, and help with all the clubs on campus. The class is also constantly putting up signs around the school for upcoming events.
All of the rallies students attend are planned and run by the leadership class. Without them, I do not think our school would have as much fun or be as enjoyable.
“I’m a little bit nervous because there is a lot of pressure, but we have a lot of fun and exciting things planned,” stated Rodgers, who is very excited to have become our class president.
Homecoming is the next big thing, seeing as it is so early this year. “We’re hoping to have a fashion show for the spirit days soon. We have three rallies planned for homecoming week, as well as various class competitions,” said Rodgers. “We are expecting homecoming to be amazing this year.”
Jalen Lewis, vice president, also mentioned the leadership class’s involvement in Club Rush.
“At times, it can be very stressful since there’s so much going on, but the business and stressfulness for me is like the adrenaline rush of it. I love being busy,” said Rodgers.  If anyone could handle the stress that comes with being class president, it is her.
The position has its perks, and for Rodgers it is being able to over-see the school activities and take part in making the school a better place.
Some responsibilities that come with being president include assigning people to the different committees, and making sure that activities get done.
“The class does a lot of work with being involved. It’s not just me,” said Rodgers.
Junior Jalen Lewis also has many responsibilities as vice president, such as taking care of the homecoming elections for king and queen. He also works with the president, along with the rest of the leadership class, stating that he is like a “middleman.”
Placer High School has a fantastic leadership class this year, and everyone in it is doing well in planning ahead and staying on top of things that need to be done. “We have a large class, a greater drive, we’re organized, and we’re focused,” said Lewis.
