Second photo for seniors completely out

The second photo in the senior section is completely out of the yearbook. After many failed attempts to get students to turn in their photos, the yearbook staff finally decided to drop the photo altogether.

Last year was the first time that the second photo was introduced and many students turned one in unlike this year. Many students liked the idea and pushed for it to happen again this year. Yearbook agreed but the lack of effort from students made it almost impossible to do.

“I thought it was a good idea; I just didn’t have time to turn one in,” explained senior Nicole Tagge.

“I liked the idea but I didn’t know what picture to choose so I didn’t turn one in,” senior Alexis Strickland stated.

According to Dan Wilson, Yearbook Adviser, “No more than 22 students turned in a second photo.”

This lack of photos made it extremely hard for the yearbook staff because of their deadlines. Four announcements were put in the bulletin and still almost none of the senior class turned in a photo.

Those in charge of the senior section really liked the idea of a second photo. They waited ‘til the last minute in hopes of getting more photos because they really wanted to keep the second photo, but with their own deadlines approaching they were forced to abandon the idea.

“We had the layout all planned out and set up. The last deadline was January 28,th but still no one turned one in. We decided to put the second photo in this year because kids were complaining about not having it. No one turned one in and now they are complaining that we dropped it. I don’t get it; they are getting mad either way but it’s their own fault,” explained Marena McNaney, who is in charge of the senior portrait section.

This second photo could have featured anything and would have been a way for seniors to express themselves. Last year many students put pictures of themselves with friends, doing sports, or just them expressing themselves.

“The senior section page will be really good with or without the second photo,” McNaney promised.

The senior section will include your name, your senior photo, and a quote if you have one. The yearbook has high hopes for the yearbook this year. All staff members have been working extremely hard to make it a success.

If you would like your photo back please come to room 306 to pick it up from Mr. Wilson.
