Fattening Foods

Obesity has become a major issue among Americans, and preservation of a healthy youth has become increasingly important in our society. As the concerns for a healthy youth grow, so does the youth. As of 2010, 30.6% of Americans are obese, and the Healthy People Project is proving unsuccessful in slimming down Americans. Americans are notorious for their high-calorie, sugar-loaded foods, and also for consuming them. A website called “thisiswhyyourfat.com” displays numerous pages of various types of fattening food, ranging from extremely sugary pastries to multi-. The website does not necessarily have a motive to raise awareness or push healthy diets, but does reflect the unhealthy choices that many Americans make. We went around interviewing Placer High students on these “disgusting” foods and their own eating habits.                                                                                                                     Jordan Roper stated that “more people should control their weight. More things will get done, like more world records will be set, and everyone will be generally happier. As a skilled athlete, Jordan pays attention to what he eats. Included in his daily diet are mangos, celery, and tofu.                                                                             Ashley Dollahite also commented on the pictures, “Those foods just look gross.”

Mr. Schroeder says that his favorite food is pizza, but he also balances it out with lots of healthy food, and encourages others too as well.
