On October 29th, thousands of people were lining up at Dutch Bros. coffee shops to grab a coffee or make a helpful donation.

On this day, Dutch Bros. Proceeds Day, a fundraiser was held to raise money for Sacramento Sheriff Deputy Danny Oliver and Placer County Sheriff’s detective Michael David Davis Jr. The proceeds went to The Star Six Foundation and Placer 10-35.

“We were all so shocked by Friday’s events, many of the Placer County Sheriffs are customers and friends, it was clear to us Saturday morning that we needed to do something,” said Jeremy Mauel, Dutch Bros. Auburn/Rocklin owner. In addition to donations being made from total sales, there were donation buckets set up at every participating location. Also, a memorial fund for Michael’s four children had been set up at the Wells Fargo Bank. The account name is, “Detective Michael Davis Jr., Benefit Memorial Fund”, and donations could be mailed.

“We are so thankful to have the opportunity to work with our neighboring Dutch Bros. family, who jumped in without hesitation,” said Heather Mauel, Dutch Bros Auburn/Rocklin owner to a staff reporter of The Auburn Journal.

The lines were long and the demands were high. Thousands came from miles away to show their support for the families. At the end of the day, a total of $96,597 was raised, half of which were given as donations and the other half were from peoples orders.

In this case, early bird gets the worm since the lines started early, and according to CHPD Sergeant Jason Baldwin, the lines were roughly 15-20 minutes long but, “The community is very supportive; they’re willing to wait,” stated on the Citrus Heights Sentinel. Citrus Heights is one of the locations who participated in the event and also included Auburn, Rocklin Granite Bay, Woodland, Davis and Sacramento.
