School Stress

Students everywhere stress from school work ontop of  day to day activities, such as sports, and it is largely affecting their education. This amount of stress can end up having the pupils changing their priorities and affect their ability to perform well in their studies.

Paloma Acquistapace, a freshmen, shared about her troubles with balancing volleyball and her school work.

“.. it’s really hard because I have volleyball right after school and days we have games.. its almost impossible to do it that night, so i’ll have to wake up early and finish it then. But that causes me to lose sleep and nobody likes me grumpy..”

This is the case with most students, even some are questioning the purpose and utter use of the endless sheets and problems. Ariana West, also on the freshmen volleyball team has changed her priorities.

“…although the homework is not that difficult but its just the amount that they assign is out of hand. it really sucks because of them [the teachers] I am having to change up my priorities and put sports in front of my schoolwork and friends.”

Some students feel that the stress may not be that apparent at first, such as in the first few weeks, but increases drastically in the weeks following. With the freshmen, they are not expecting the amount of workload that will be added as the term progresses.

However the case is different with a senior. Cody Hitchcock is predicting to stress out this year over his school work. “…its different than past years because of all the pressure we get put under… its not like if we fail a class we can just take it again next term, if we fail a class we have to retake our entire senior year all over again.”
