Mitt Romney vs. Ron Paul

Mitt Romney speaks the truth:

“When I was a boy I used to think that becoming rich and becoming famous would make me happy…boy was I right!”

More truth:

“I’ve always opposed gay marriage. I believe that we should provide equal rights to people regardless of their sexual orientation, but I do not believe that marriage should be between two people of the same gender,” commented Romney in a Fox News interview earlier this year. However, in his 1994 senatorial campaign against Ted Kennedy, Romney states that “We must make the equality of gays and lesbians a mainstream concern. My opponent cannot do this. I can and will.” After losing to Kennedy, Romney was elected as governor ofMassachusettsin 2003 and reveals his sham in a statement regarding the Massachusetts Supreme Court decision to legalize same-sex marriages. “Marriage is an institution between a man and a woman. I will support an amendment to theMassachusettsconstitution to make that expressly clear.” To sum up, Romney outright lies that he has always opposed gay marriage- having supposedly ran as a beacon for equal rights of gays and lesbians against incumbent Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy, and then goes so far as to support an amendment that would repeal the Supreme Court’s decision that had been such a monumental step towards the equality that he blatantly lied about supporting.

In regards to his comments during his presidential campaign- stating that, albeit his stance on gay marriage, equal rights should be provided to gays and lesbians- Romney says nothing of the equal rights that have been reserved alone for homosexual marriages, such as: joint parental rights of children, domestic violence protection orders, spousal veterans benefits, limitations of Social Security and Medicare, joint filing of tax returns, joint housing for elderly, and automatic inheritance in the absence of a will.

When running for Massachusettscongress in 1994, the candidate fully supported women’s abortion rights and government-funded family planning. In 2002, while campaigning for governor of Massachusetts, Romney signed Planned Parenthood documents proving his endorsement. Only seven years ago, after supporting abortion rights- the most controversial women’s rights issue of the 21st century- for nearly thirty years did Romney, the appeasing wimp, publicly “change his mind” on abortion and become a “pro-life” advocate.

In 2007 Romney was quoted saying I longed in many respects to actually be in Vietnam and be representing our country there, and in some ways it was frustrating not to feel like I was there as part of the troops that were fighting in Vietnam.” However, in Romney’s 1994 campaign for U.S. senate he told The Boston Herald, “It was not my desire to go off and serve inVietnam, nor did I take any actions to remove myself from the pool of young men who were eligible for the draft.” Here Romney contradicts himself stating that he did not desire to fight for his country in addition to blatantly lying that he took no action to remove himself from the draft. During the Vietnam War-  a war that he supported to an extent of protesting, with sign in hand, the counter culture demonstrators during the 1960’s- Romney avoided military service by seeking and receiving four military draft deferments. These deferments, some for university study and others for serving as a “minister of religion”, were easily granted to the son ofMichigan governor George W. Romney, and Romney spent nearly three years inFrance serving as a missionary and also attending a boarding school inParis where he learned to speak fluent French. Republican or not, would you want a president who waved signs at the flower children seeking peace, only to hop ship to evade the war he fully supported…and then say that it never happened?

It appears that Romney has no stance at all, no truths, or successes that he can stand by and say “This is what I stand for.” The truth is, Romney is a conservative cash baby that has reached his political status by simply siding with the majority, the swing vote, or the man with the most superPAC cash.

Be smart. Ron Paul 2016.
