Greed, the cause of ridiculous lawsuits

Finger in the chili, false beer advertising, and even a man suing himself. Even nowadays, people are so desperate for money that people will sue for nearly anything. If you ask me, these lawsuits are just pure ridiculous. Ever thought of suing people just because they look like you? Think again.

There have been cases such as where a man sued basketball legend Michael Jordan for looking like him and where a Victoria’s Secret bra strap broke off and snapped a woman in the face, suing for injury. What happened to cases like these?

Every single one of them got dismissed in court. These plaintiffs are just looking for a cheap quick buck the lazy way.

“I think these plaintiffs are just abusing the system clearly for financial gain”, stated Mary Ann Collins, attorney at law of Collins & Collins. “They are trying to get an easy way to make money from the companies’ deep pockets.”

Not even people here in Auburn are that dim-witted and desperate for money. Residents in Auburn actually have common sense.

“No, I would not. I do not believe in these frivolous lawsuits,” stated by Mary Ann.

I believe that these people have no moral of their own and don’t do it for the right to get it perfect, but to actually make a profit. These people should are selfish ingrates and do nothing to help, other than to help themselves by making a profit. Thankfully, there are people who actually do what is right and sue these companies to make things right and not for financial gain.

“If something ridiculous happened to me, I would want to be righted, but not make bank off of it,” said junior, Alyssa Harben.

If your suing the company to get things right and not for corporate gain, then that’s acceptable. Anything else is just pure exploitation of the system.

Corporations, restaurants, and other chains take extreme measures to make sure to prevent these types of things. Wet floor signs, making sure foods are cook thoroughly to prevent food poisoning and other types of sicknesses, giving something in return if people give companies money. But apparently, people try to get around the system, and fail to gain anything from it.

There are some ridiculous lawsuits that people just found too amusing to believe.

“In 2000, a woman sued Universal Studios for severe emotional distress because she thought [the ride] was too scary,” said Collins.

“The lady that sued McDonalds over hot coffee because some people don’t have common sense,” said Harben.

More and more people in this world become so greedy that people would go as far as making up lawsuits when the companies or victims did nothing wrong. All these people want is cash in their pocket and abuse the system some more. There’s no moral to any of this. The only thing going with this nowadays is ignorance.
