A view on gun rights

Every day, whether it’s in the newspaper or on the television, you always hear someone getting murdered. The culprit? Psychopathic idiots behind the trigger. Guns are the number one weapon of choice for criminals in the United States. The United States needs to soften down on the background check for firearms.

Under federal law, new firearms may only be sold by businesses which possess a Federal Firearms License, or the FFL for short. These dealers are commonly referred to as gun stores. What really gets me is the of the process of buying a gun that really gets me is the criminal background check. Individuals who were convicted of felons, domestic assault or abuse, and discharged veterans are not eligible to purchase a firearm. I think they need to cut back on some of the checks that they go through on order to buy a gun, such as mental illness, minor offenses, and possession.

I believe everyone applies to the 2nd amendment, unless they were some crazy lunatic shooting people with no moral behind it.

“As long as they’re not a murderer, yes, I believe everyone deserves a firearm,” said junior, Josh Partridge.

Unless the person is convicted of a murder, that person should have a firearm at hand for self defense. People who had been prosecuted with possession should still have access to a firearm at hand.

Why? Because he didn’t kill anyone. Anyone who had drugs under their roof still should be able to keep a gun under their roof.

But there’s a catch: To own a gun you should take special guns classes so you don’t blow your eye out.

“Every time you pick up the weapon, check the breach. Never hand loaded guns to anyone unless they actually know what they’re doing,” said freshman, Ben Davis.

“I’ve gone through military training academy. I’ve gone through almost every type of safety class,” said Partridge.

“Firearms should only be purchasable only if they graduated gun safety class,” said Partridge.

I believe with all of this. Owning a gun takes a lot of responsibility to operate and keep around the house. With children and inexperienced people not knowing what they’re doing, who knows what chaos could go on in your household.

Guns have turned from an innocent defense weapon to a violent murder device in the hands of psychotic people. Messing around with guns is no laughing matter. If you mess around with guns, someone could end up shot.
