In Auburn’s race for the best pizza there were two standout winners, Old Town Pizza and Original Pete’s.

            Old Town Pizza served a fetta cheese, garlic pizza made with homemade pesto sauce with chopped tomatoes and topped with basil. The crust was thick and fluffy and the cheese was perfectly melted without being greasy.  For anyone who like’s pesto sauce this is the pizza for you. At first when you see the pizza to some teenagers it might not look like it’s going to be very good, but once you take a bite you’ll love it. Old Town pizza uses a conveyer oven which cooks a little differently than most other places you buy pizza at. Old Town Pizza is located at 150 Sacramento St. in Old Town Auburn, Ca, they also have a location in Lincoln as well.

“Our commitment is to making food taste great not building it cheaply,” stated Ethan, the general manager at the Auburn location. It has been in Auburn since 1999 first owned by the Hayes but is now owned by the Browning’s since 2002. Old Town Pizza has 5 different sizes of pizza’s the following prices are for their specialty pizza’s(as explained above); the small has 6 slices and costs $14, the medium has 8 slices and costs $18, the large has 10 slices and costs $21, the x-large has 12 slices and costs $24 while their largest pizza the family sized costs $30 for 16 delicious slices.

While Old Town served up the best specialty pizza, Original Pete’s served up one of the best supreme pizzas in Auburn. Original Pete’s pizza had hand tossed crust baked in a brick oven, topped with cheese, pepperoni, Italian sausage, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, Canadian bacon, olives and green bell peppers. Original Pete’s is located at 13434 Lincoln Way, Auburn, Ca. They’ve been open in Auburn since 2007. For a specialty pizza like listed above the prices are; $6.99 for a personal that comes with a soup or salad, $12.99 for a small, $17.99 for a medium, $20.99 for a large and $23.99 for an x-large. Original pete’s is also having a special right now for  large 2- topping pizza’s for only $12, so go check them and Old Town Pizza out and eat some great pizza
