Mysteries in the Canal

Recently, Richard Hill, a 50 year old transient was found dead in the Auburn Wise canal, the sixth death in the canal since January 2009.  Many people are wondering about the canal deaths considering all people who died were drunk or on drugs.

Officer Neher, Placer High’s cop, said “I believe they’re accidents.  I may have even met them while on patrol.”

Many deaths have occurred in the Wise Canal off of Mt. Vernon Road.  Richard Hill was found on November 23, having been released from Placer County Jail just three days prior.

“It’s a very serious matter that needs to be addressed.  I believe it’s cold blooded murder. The chances of six deaths in two years is astronomical.  If someone I know died in the canal, I would feel very bad and would sue PG&E for not taking more precautions to stop this sort of matter,” said Nathan Locke Auburn resident, and junior at Placer High School.

Recently, Betty Star said her son, Kenny Minero, admitted to her that he was pushed into the canal and only narrowly escaped.  Star said her son walked the canal every day for many years, and he didn’t trip but was pushed.

Minero told Star that he may have been pushed in by another member of the transient community because of the number of thefts in the camping area and increase of new Roseville arrivals.

Minero luckily survived in the canal, but was not around to tell his own story.  He died on May 22, 2009.

The first man to die in the canal, David Lee Miller, called out to construction workers telling them he was being chased.

“A loss of human life is never a good thing” says Neher.
